Topics: Professor Marie Fallon (Palliative Care), Dr Susan Nimmo (Acute rehabilitation), Dr John Wilson (Pain after limb amputation) and Dr David Gillanders (Identity and chronic pain), case study presentations, pain scenarios and plenty of opportunity for audience interaction and discussion.
Essay Prize Competition: A prize of a substantial bursary for the MSc in Pain Management of the University of Edinburgh (www.painmanagement.ed.ac.uk) will be offered for the best essay on the subject of 'The importance of good pain relief'. The essay should be up to 1,000 words, and submitted by Wednesday 16th August to the address given below.
Presentation Prize Competition: Prizes will be available for those who submit short presentations on the Study Day. Applications by the 1st of August, in the form of a short abstract. The presentation should be of the order of up to 10 minutes, and can be on any subject from the field of pain medicine in its wider sense.
Cheques in Pounds sterling for £15 should be made payable to 'Edinburgh Anaesthesia Festival'. About us
We are a group of healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychologists ....) working in the field of pain management throughout the West of Scotland.
We meet during the academic year (October to May) at 7pm, in the Adelphi Centre, 12 Commercial Road, GLASGOW, G5 0PQ.
Meetings comprise a talk from an invited speaker, followed by group discussion. The meetings are a great way to keep in touch with colleagues and stay up to date with treatment advances and service developments.
The committee of the Group consists of a treasurer, chairman and honorary secretary. These positions are currently occupied as follows:

How to join
Membership is free, and open to all interested healthcare professionals and students in the West of Scotland. You don't have to be working in any particular area, just interested in managing pain more effectively.
